The Next President…

2008 January 15

Will be Barack Obama.

Currently betting on Jim Webb as Vice President. Though Joe Manchin (scholarships aside) or Kristin Sebellius might also be potential runningmates. I’d also like to throw Gary Coleman’s name in the hat…. also Jenna Jameson is apparently looking for a new career.

One total wild card i’d like to throw out there is Christie Todd Whitman for VP…. Those of you who know me, know that i’ve always been impressed with her judgment, integrity, and ability to find the middle ground.

The next president will take over a deeply divided country, and I think someone like Obama would make great strides in this area, adding a moderate/intellectual republican to the ticket wouldn’t be a terrible idea. Yes i am equating moderate republicans with intellectuals, thanks to this president who redefined moderate as anyone who isn’t gung ho about torture/domestic surveillance/in the pocket of exxonmobil/homophobic…. And while unfortunately the Christian Right will be left out of what i hope will become a coalition for change. It seems like the only way to appease that crowd is by electing a fetus to office that will install cameras in everyone’s bedroom.

If by some crazy chance it’s a Huckabee-Hillary match – Bloomberg will jump in, so that could be interesting. And yes, you can jump in as late as June if you are a billionaire. Especially in that matchup.

The horrendous field of candidates on the Republican side has left the nomination to Pat Buchannan, oh wait.. no, the other guy who runs every time, no… not Larouche.. Oh yea, John “barney” McCain. Really these guys are such jokes that a headcase like McCain might end up with the nomination by default. Giulani- youtube “trump, giulani, drag,” Romney – Joseph Smith, Thompson – “ummm, i’m really not sure what i signed up for,” and Huckabee – didn’t come from a monkey. Will Walnuts (see wonkette) walkaway with it? He’d could potentially beat Hillary in the general, but Obama would beat McCain in a landslide.  And again, Obama will be the nominee, and will win big against whichever hairball the Republicans cough up.
